Symbolism
fist fight Pictures, Images and Photos

I think this stupid animation is a good symbolism of Quackenbush because it represents the quarrel between him and Gene after he called him a "maimed" person.

Analysis

Quackenbush is like the nemesis in the novel. He bullies everyone around and is very condescending and wants superiority. His personality is controlling and violent. "...his dark expressionless eyes. Quackenbush was the crew manager, and there was something wrong about him. ... to me there only came the disliked edge of Quackenbush's reputation"(Knowles 76). Also, he is really competitive with others and wants to be known and popular at Devon, even though he won't admit it. "I've got to have some real help around here. This crew is going to win the New England scholastics, or my name isn't Cliff Quackenbush"(Knowles 77).

Theme-tie-in

He brings controversy, excitement, and disturbment to the other boys at Devon, which creates a great story, however, it's sad the characters in the book have to deal and suffer a school-life with that kid.

This could be another symbolism for Quackenbush...
